Hi there, we're Gary & Amanda.
Our mission is to show you how to see the outback just like locals do -at a fraction of the cost that most people expect.
So on Travel Outback Australia, we've created a step-by-step travel guide to help you plan, research and prepare your own outback adventure. Our Start Here! section will help you to plan your trip. You'll find loads of information on:
Travel Outback Australia gives you travel advice from real outback locals.
That's right. We're real outback locals.
Unlike many other travel bloggers and 'experts' who write about the outback, we actually live and work in Central Australia, and have done for twenty years (read more about us here).
We're not wealthy, either. We're just an ordinary Aussie family who can show you how to travel the outback easily and afforadably, using tips and tricks we actually use ourselves:
Of course, we've got a wealth of knowledge and firsthand reviews of destinations, accommodation, car hire, events and local secrets, so you'll be able to figure out your itinerary in no time:
This is only a small selection of the information on the site.
You'll also find lots of essential information based on our years of experience to help you enjoy your trip and stay safe:
As we've said above, we're not an advertising company, a tour company or even tour guides.
We're real people who live and work in outback Australia.
For the past 20 years, we've travelled all over the outback as part of our very special jobs (national park ranger and anthropologist).
You can read all about us here.
As part of our jobs (and for fun!) we camp, hike, work with Aboriginal people, drive off-road, and study birds, animals, plants and history.
So we really can show you how to see the outback's most famous big red rocks, canyons, gorges, deserts, outback pubs and towns, as well as where to find all the best camping, swimming, birdwatching spots and hiking tracks.
But most of all, we can show you the outback as it is truly is: through the eyes of people who actually live and work here.
